LEGO Organization

Every LEGO fanatic has thousands to millions of Lego pieces. The main question of every beginner LEGO Builder is: How do I organize my Legos? This question is one of the hardest to find out until you know what is best for you. This Tips & Tricks Article will show you ideas of ways to organize your LEGOs so that your room can stay free of LEGOs on the floor and your parents can stop yelling at you about the bricks they have continuously stepped on.

Ways of Organization

There are two different ways you can organize your pieces: by color or by part. If you are organizing by color, you would put all of one color parts in one basket. If you are organizing by part, you would put all of one type of part in one basket. Now I will list the pros and cons of each way of organization.

Pros of Organization by Color:

- Requires Less Space

- Costs Less Money

- Easier to Sort Pieces

- Allows for free building (You will see many types of pieces easily)

Cons of Organization by Color:

- Harder to find specific pieces

- You have to separate pieces that are meant to be together (ex. LEGO Turntables)

- Appears less professional

Pros of Organization by Part:

- Very easy to find specific parts

- Very Customizable (ex. You can put all Technic pieces on one side and all Bricks on the other)

- Appears more professional

Cons of Organization by Part:

- Can be very costly for supplies like organizers and labels

- Requires a lot of space (at least an entire room)

- Can be hard to sort pieces (You have to look through every piece and sort it)

- Focused Building (You have to know what you want to build and look for those pieces only)

Recommended Organization Tools:

These organization boxes are very sturdy and can hold a lot of LEGO Pieces. They come in different colors and have a separate wood drawer organizer if wanted. I personally only use the baskets and put my LEGO pieces in them. They offer multiple sizes as well, making it convenient for you.

These organization Bricks and Heads are from the actual LEGO Company. They have many options for the size of the bricks or Minifigure head you want. An added bonus is that they are stackable. I use these when gathering pieces in a new LEGO Project.

There is nothing wrong with your traditional plastic organizers from your local stores. These are great for LEGO Organizing and sturdy for your thousands of bricks. Some local shops that have great organizers are Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Target, and Walmart.

As you can see, there are many ways of organizing your LEGOs, you just have to find the best one that works for you!
