You are most likely a LEGO builder looking for ways to add more LEGO in your room. Why not make a name sign? But this sign is not like the others, it shows your love for LEGO by using the LEGO Company font. So, let me show you how to create a welcoming LEGO sign for your room.
Step 1: Create the Picture of Your Name in Lego Font
First, go onto your browser and paste this link: https://www.festisite.com/logo/lego/ . This is a site where you can type in your desired word or name to generate in the LEGO Company font. Then type in your desired word or name in the bar underneath the picture. Keep in mind that the length of the name will impact how many bricks are used to create your sign. This is how it should look after typing your word/name:
Next, you should download this image by clicking the blue button on the bottom right corner that says Download. This will save the image to your device's File Explorer App.
Step 2: Turn the Picture into Bricks
Now, go back to a new tab and this time paste this link: https://me.brickapic.com/ . This is where you can turn the picture of your name in LEGO font into bricks. First click the green button on the left that says "Choose an Image". Find and select a file that should be called "festsite_lego" unless you changed the name of the file while downloading. Double-click on it and you should be presented with a screen similar to this:
Now depending on how big the name is you will need more 32x32 plates. To determine how many plates you will need, use the preview space to move your image around. Move your image to the first brick (drag to the right) and then move your image to the last brick (drag to the left). If the spot where the image is cut off from the first brick is also partly visible at the last brick then it is two plates. If it is not then that might require more plates. This is a very confusing and difficult step so if you need help send a Chat to me so I can assist you. After deciding how many plates you will need decide how you will divide you name between the plates by playing around with the preview image.
Step 3: Find or Buy the Pieces
The Parts List: (the amount will depend on your word/name length)
- 32x32 Lego Base Plate - Part 3811
- Red Plates of ANY Size - 3021, 3023, 3020, 41539, 3024 are examples
- White Plates of ANY Size - 3021, 3023, 3020, 41539, 3024 are examples
- Yellow Plates of ANY Size - 3021, 3023, 3020, 41539, 3024 are examples
- Black Plates of ANY Size - 3021, 3023, 3020, 41539, 3024 are examples
If you are missing certain pieces just go on Bricklink and search for the piece based on size or piece number. These bricks are very cheap, sometimes being less than a cent. Thus, I highly recommend this website if you are missing pieces. Bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/main.page .
Step 4: Build
Start building the sign based on the diagram. Remember you can always change the piece you use. For example, you do not need to put two 1x1s for a spot, instead you can put one 1x2. You can also use larger plates for spots with more of one color. While building try to also connect the base plates with some pieces in the top, center, and bottom of the plate area.
Step 5: Hang in Your Room
After you are done with your build, there are many ways to show it off in your room.
You can use pieces to make the sign stand up straight or hang on a wall. The choice that I used for my room was two of the 59492 pieces (the first piece I found). However, there are many more complicated but better-looking ways to hang it such as using wall strips, screws, or other LEGO displays.
Now you can show off your welcoming LEGO name sign to your friends and family and take pride in being called a Master Builder!
