The Persisting History of Lego
The story of the Lego Company starts in Denmark. A carpenter by the name of Ole Kirk Christiansen was struggling with his business. Soon, his wife and mother of Christiansen's four boys died. This was very impactful on Ole Kirk Christiansen and his four boys. Ole has to find a way to make money and make his kids happy. He thought of making wood toys of great quality. His sons helped him with the business, but the toys were not selling very fast. He decided to create a business name: "Lego, which in Danish meant "Play Well".
A few years later, when Christensen had a well-developed business, his woodshop burnt down and he lost everything. He knew it was too important to support his kids and himself so he had to come up with a new idea.
Then, he finally came up with the idea of creating a system of toys that would build kids' imagination and creativity. They built a village build made of plastic bricks and the idea caught on quickly. Soon, they figured out how to make the plastic pieces connect. This caused them to stop making wooden toys and focus on only plastic toys. After that, they created more and more models of spaceships, houses, castles, planes, and villages. They even created a Lego theme park called "Legoland".
Since then, the company has grown into being one of the most popular kids' toys. Today, there are Lego Sets based on films, and even themes for Lego including Technic, Friends, Duplo, and Creator. Lego has grown into making attire, movies, books, and theme parks.
